METRO MADRID

By January 1, 2005, the Metro System had in operation twelve lines (plus the Opera-Príncipe Pío Branch Line) with a total length of 226.729 km and with 237 stations, 151 of which are single (no connecting lines), 26 double, 10 triple and 1 quadruple.

At the end of the year, the rolling stock was comprised of 1.550 cars, with an average age of 11,7 years.

The following table shows the basic lengths of the Metro lines. The 'total length' includes the turn around track at the ends of the lines. The 'Exact length' is from the beginning of the first station platform to the end of the last. The final value is the length from the middle of the first station platform to the middle of the last.

The part of line 9 that is outside the municipality of Madrid is operated by the concession Transportes Ferroviarios de Madrid (TFM) and that length is included at the bottom of the table.

The network supply capacity has remained stable in respect to the year 2004, a total of 221.909 in the peak hour by direction in the whole of the network.

The total supply of car-kilometres, during the year was 154,9 million, which included 154,1 million service car-kilometres.
